Battlefields: Armageddon is Warhammer 40,000's first ready-painted terrain set
Games Workshop calls it the first ready-painted plastic terrain set for Warhammer 40,000: push-fit ruins, pylons and barricades that need no glue and no paint.
Not everyone wants to spend a month assembling and painting scenery before the first game. Games Workshop's answer is Battlefields: Armageddon, a Warhammer 40,000 terrain set that it describes as the first ready-painted plastic terrain set for the game. It was first shown in a Sunday Preview on 11 October 2026, and appeared in GW's pre-order round-up on 17 October.
What's in the box
Games Workshop lists the contents as:
- 8 Large Manufactorum Ruins
- 8 Small Manufactorum Ruins
- 2 Shock Arrays
- 2 Capacitor Stacks
- 4 Rockcrete Barricades
- 2 Generator Shrines
- 4 Galvanic Pylons
It's push-fit, so there's no glue and no paint to deal with. Open the box, click the pieces together and you've got industrial wasteland to fight over.
Built for a full game
The 17 October article says the set includes terrain footprints and folding game boards, and that it covers a full-sized game. The footprints are there to show you where each piece goes, which should take some of the guesswork out of setting up a table, particularly if you're new to 40k or running a demo game.
For a lot of us, ready-made terrain won't replace a lovingly painted battlefield. But for a first table, a second table for the club, or a game on a night when you'd rather play than paint, it's an interesting addition to the range.
What to watch for
Games Workshop's listing says there is a "limited quantity available at this time", and that availability in Japan will follow later. The announcements we've seen give no price and no release date, and we couldn't see a pre-order time, so we're not going to guess. We'll update this post if Games Workshop confirms more.
