Welcome to Legion Gaming: a shop, a painter directory and a hobby journal

Welcome to Legion Gaming. We're the gaming sister brand of Legion Comps, built for people who collect, build and paint miniatures and who like playing with them afterwards. The idea is simple: somewhere to find what to build next, and to meet the painters who can help bring it to life.

The shop

The shop stocks miniatures, rulebooks and hobby kit, and you can browse it by category. Items are either posted to you or, for digital products, downloaded. Each product page carries its own live price, so the listing is always the place to check before you buy. The home page also has a "New in" and "Staff pick" spot for items we want to point out.

Painters

Our painter directory is a place for independent painters to show their portfolios, their styles and their prices. You can browse by painter, and look through their pieces. Some product pages also list painters who take on that kind of kit.

Here's how it works at launch. Legion Gaming sells you the products. If you'd like something painted, a "Want it painted?" prompt appears in your basket and on your order for kits that can be painted. It takes you to the directory, narrowed to painters who handle that type of kit where there are any. From a painter's profile, you can send them a message through the "Contact this painter" enquiry form, which you'll need to be signed in to use. The conversation happens in an inbox on the site, and neither of you sees the other's email address.

From there, it's between you and the painter to agree what's wanted, and the painters are independent. We aren't taking painting commissions ourselves.

Painter of the month

Each month we put one painter in the spotlight on the home page, with a feature on their work and a link to their portfolio. Alongside it, "Fresh from the bench" shows new pieces from the community's portfolios.

Community news

This is the news you're reading now, in the "From the hobby" section. We write about releases and announcements from across the hobby in our own words, and always link back to the publisher's original. Everything is on the news page, and posts are tagged by game system.

Get involved

• Browse and message. Have a look through the portfolios and contact a painter whose work you like.
• Become a painter. If you paint, you can apply for a profile. Profiles are free, but you need to be 18 or over, live in the UK, have a Legion Gaming account and paint the work you show yourself. Our painter terms cover the details.
• Keep reading. New stories land in the news section, and the home page is set out like an issue of a hobby magazine.

A word about Legion Comps

Legion Comps, which is where the prize competitions live, is a separate site, and those competitions are for over-18s only.
